I am a freelance saxophonist/flutist, drummer, composer and bandleader based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I specialize in R&B, Jazz, Soul, Funk, Reggae,  New Orleans and related styles.

I am ever grateful to the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music and the Ucross Foundation for the gift of my Fall 2016 composer residency, where I was able to start and finish two new big band scores. I look forward to premiering these in April and May. As the warmer weather approaches, I'm also excited about embarking on the Party Monsters' 2017 Festival and concert season.

My career has taken me worldwide, recording and touring with David Bowie, Luther Vandross, Laura Nyro, Melba Liston, Chic, Bo Diddley and many others. I have been fortunate to perform at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, the Grammys in Los Angeles, The Monterey, San Francisco, Kool Jazz and many other jazz festivals, Montreux, Pori (Finland), the Netherlands, Rio de Janeiro, Acapulco and many other exciting places.

I love composing, and I'm excited that the Montclair Women's Big Band is in the process of recording four of my original compositions for our upcoming second album.

Playing with many different ensembles keeps me on my toes. These days, in addition to playing tenor with the Montclair Women's  Big Band, I perform regularly with The Party Monsters (drums with my 5-piece party cover band), The Bonafides (sax with a New Orleans R&B quintet), Recovered Vinyl (drums with a Rockabilly group), The James Moseley Band (sax with this 9-piece R&B show band), The Class Act Big Band (drums with this swing and Latin dance band) and Leave it to Diva (sax with this large R&B party band).

 Thanks for looking!  Cheers, Jean
